Let’s chalk one up for the good guys. Early last week, President Khelil of OPEC made the ridiculous assertion that the reason for the recent spike in oil prices is because of OPEC’s competition from BioFuels.
Perhaps this was a thinly veiled threat. As if, we should stop making a product that competes with oil, and then they will lower prices?
Facts are facts, the rise in fuel supplis over the last couple of years has been mostly attributed to BioFuels, not increased petroleum production.
If you take BioFuels out of the equation, all of the sudden we have a shortfall of millions of gallons per day. If we let that happen, then oil can only go one way – up!
I understand why OPEC wants oil prices to go up. But what I don’t understand is why we should let it happen.
The World BioFuels Industry published an open letter in the Financial Times last week to draw attention to this ridiculous spin being put out by OPEC. To get the story check out www.goodfuels.org/opec.

It’s the 4th of July, and it’s time to declare our energy independence. You can sign the petition here: http://www.thepetitionsite.com/1/declare-july-4th-energy-independence-day.
Or you can spend the rest of your life riding a bike to work, because you sure as hell can’t afford gas.
If you aren’t sure about whether it’s a good idea to use Ethanol or not, then read over the website at www.drivingethanol.org, and also read this article that Dark Palmer wrote yesterday, “The Case for Ethanol”.
Oh, and save a beer for me, I’ll be right over.

Last week I reported on Lou Dobbs’ position that George Bush should be impeached because of the salmonella outbreak. The crux of his argument was that the FDA should name names about the suspected sources of the salmonella outbreak - specifically Mexico.
But now we learn that the CDC still doesn’t know where the salmonella came from, and may not even be from tomatoes at all. See the article here:
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080627/ap_on_he_me/med_salmonella_tomatoes
Now, this is why they don’t name names. Because two things happen when you do that. First, it causes irreparable harm to the company that is named - even if they fix the problem, they might well go out of business. Secondly, until they know where its coming from, what’s the point of freaking everyone out?
If they say it’s tomatoes from Mexico, but it turns out to be vegetable trucks in the United States, then people will not take proper precautions with their food. They’ll just stop buying Mexican tomatoes, and ge sick anyway.
Lou Dobbs, of course, isn’t concerned about accuracy, however. It’s just about ratings.

According to Lou Dobbs, George Bush should be impeached because some people got Salmonella poisoning from eating tainted tomatoes a few weeks ago. Watch the video here: http://www.businessandmedia.org/articles/2008/20080620123425.aspx
Of course, it couldn’t be Bush’s fault because we already learned last week that the Salmonella outbreak was caused by “Global Warming”. Here’s the link to that article for your entertainment: http://blogs.discovermagazine.com/betterplanet/2008/06/17/rotten-tomatoes-caused-by-climate-change/
Ok, Enemies of Freedom - which is it? Is it Bush’s fault? Or, is it Global Warming.
Now I’m not waiting for Lou Dobbs to respond because we all know what the answer to my rhetorical question is. It’s both. See, George Bush caused Global Warming which in turn caused the Salmonella outbreak. I mean anyone who has constructed as many Rube Goldberg logical constructs as the Liberal media would have no trouble coming up with the layers of stupendous irrationality required to draw these kinds of conclusions.
Of course, Lou Dobbs is just trolling. He knows damn well that these kinds of outbreaks happen. It’s impossible to completely stop it. But for Dobbs it’s never been about truth. It is and always has been about ratings.

Who says Geeks are Anti-social? If it weren’t for Geeks then there wouldn’t be such a thing as Social Networking. I mean who would build the database?
Am I right?
Well, not really. Actually there’s always Ning - the company behind most social networking sites. They give away a free system to anyone who wants one. It has everything you would want in a Social Network system – and you don’t need a Geek to build you one.
You pay a bit extra if you want to have you own domain, or to get rid of their advertising. But hey, it will save you about a year of development time!
Check them out at www.ning.com.
